Bill Daugherty

Bill Daugherty is CEO of Daugherty Management & Investment (DMI). He currently serves on the boards of Connect EDU, TracRac, Creative Circle Media and Mission Critical Wireless.

Prior to launching DMI, Bill founded and served as co-CEO of Interactive Search Holdings, Inc. (ISH) until the company was sold to Ask Jeeves in May, 2004. ISH began in 1999 as an Internet portal (iWon.com) backed by Viacom and JPMorgan Chase. ISH purchased Excite.com out of bankruptcy in 2001. Following this acquisition, ISH launched My Way, My Search, Smiley Central and a number of other Internet applications designed to drive Internet search volume. In 2003, ISH was selected to power the home page and search toolbar for Dell Computer. ISH ultimately grew to become Google’s 2nd largest domestic distribution partner behind AOL and controlled over 3% of the search market.

Prior to starting ISH, Bill served as Senior Vice President of Business Development for the National Basketball Association where he worked from 1991-1999. Bill oversaw the development of the NBA Store on 5th Avenue in New York City and the NBA City Restaurant in Orlando, Florida. He also spearheaded the league’s fully integrated campaign celebrating its 50th anniversary season and pioneered the All-Star Jam Session. Bill also served as the Managing Director of the NBA Consumer Products Division.

Bill is a member of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship’s national board of directors. He also chairs the Center for Entrepreneurship at The Met Center, a charter high school in Providence, Rhode.

Bill received an MBA from the Harvard Business School (1991) and a BBA from the University of Georgia (1985). He was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Bill and his wife, Tracy, live in Rhode Island with their three children.
